Brackets ([ ])

Education English | Brackets ([ ]) | According to McCaskill (1998: 45), the nonmathematical function of brackets is to enclose editorial insertion, corrections, and comment in quoted material and reference citations:
• “These instruments [the radimeter and scatterometer] have been used succesfully aboard satelites as well as aircraft.”
According to Harvey (2008: 250), brackets are used to enclose word, phrase and clause explanatory of what precedes them, or to correct an error.
Examples: They [the Indians] are fast disappering.
I wish you would like do like [as] I do.
