1. With most verbs, add –s to the base form.
ex:
perform - performs
use - uses
2. When the base form ends in s, x, z, ch, or th,
add –es.
ex :
process - processes
fix - fixes
3. When the base form ends in y preceded by a
vowel, add –s.
ex : display -displays
4. When the base form ends in y preceded by a
consonant, change the y into ie and then add –s.
ex :
carry - carries
5. Three other verbs have irregular –s forms:
ex :
do - does
go - goes
have - has
