Language and Language Acquisition

What is language ?

  5. Language is social phenomenon, and
  6. Language is equally complex
There are five major languages system that are common to competent speakers of language :
  1. Phonology, study of the speech sound of particular language.
  2. Semantics , language study of the meaning of word
  3. Morphology, system for combining units of meaning to make words or modifying word meanings.
  4. Syntax, the rules making sentences out of word and phrases.
  5. Pragmatic, set of rule governing when to use language and what sort of language should be use in front of members of certain groups.
  • Language Acquisition
Language Acquisition is the process by which humans acquire the capacity to perceive , produce and use words to understand and communicate.
The study of language is using two methods, that are The naturalistic approach and The experimental approach.
Phonological Development

  • Early phonetic process : Substitution, Syllable simplification

  • Development order.
Morphological Development 
  • A development sequence : Occurrence of the morpheme in utterance-final position-syllabicity-suspeceptibillity to stress-Obligatories-A straightforward relation between form and meaning-Lack of allomorphic variation-abscence of homophones-Clearly descernible semantic function.
