Students’ Perception about Teaching Speaking Technique

Education English | Students’ Perception about Teaching Speaking Technique | There are many definitions of perception. Perception is the act, process or product of perceiving, the ability or capacity to perceive or a particular way of perceiving (Colman, 2003: 344).
Seward and Sylvia (1996: 23) explained that perception perceives process that is influenced by the experience and the expectation. Roediger (1984: 21-22) stated that perception is the interpretation of the sensory information relayed to the brain from the receptor organs to produce and organized image of the environment.
From the explanation above, the writer take conclusion that Students’ perception is an idea or opinion of the students from their experience by analysing and summarizing the object event to be more active learning and thinking as their hope.
1. Kinds of Perception
According to Peterson in Dahlia (2007: 14 ), based on the individual aspect, perception is divided into two types, they are: positive perception and negative perception.
1. Positive perception
Positive perception is perception that describes all of knowledge (known/unknown) and respondent object that perceived positively.
In conclusion, the idea or object event that interprets by sensory organ always has good analyzing as the result.
2. Negative perception
Negative perception is perception that describes all of knowledge (known/unknown) and respondent object that perceive negatively. It means that the entire object that showed and analyzed by the respondent has bad result. Therefore, the object that has bad result can be called as negative perception.
