Education English | Recount Text : My Football Experience | When I was in junior high school, I really loved football. Every Saturday afternoon I practised in school field with my team and my coach. They were strong and smart players. My coach, Mr Sentana was a kind person. But, while he was coaching us, he was very discipline. He would grounded anyone who came late and not obeyed the team’s rules.
With Mr Sentana, our team won many tournament in many big cities. Our team named after our school, 67 Team (from SMP 67) and we had many fans too, you know. Ohh, that was so cool. Now, I still love football and have a team too. But, my parents warn me to pay attention more to my study, football just for hobby.

Each year my two brothers and I spent the holiday with our uncle and aunt in their house by the sea. it was only twenty yards from the water. the water was warm the sun shone brightly and most days there were no waves. in the middle of the day a wind always began to blow, but it was not strong and did not make the sea rough.

One day we put on our swimming shorts before breakfast. Then we ran down to the sea across the sand and jumped in. we were in the sea or on the beach until late at night. when our aunt rang a bell. we went back to the house for food, but we are in our swimming shorts and soon went back in the see again. We dived through the waves or rode towards the beach on top of them until we were tired and hungry.

Recount Text : Visiting Bali

Education English | Recount Text : Visiting Bali | There were so many places to see in Bali that my friend decided to join the tours to see as much as possible. My friend stayed in Kuta on arrival. He spent the first three days swimming and surfing on Kuta beach. He visited some tour agents and selected two tours. The first one was to Singaraja, the second was to Ubud.
On the day of the tour, he was ready. My friend and his group drove on through mountains. Singaraja is a city of about 90 thousands people. It is a busy but quiet town. The street are lined with trees and there are many old Dutch houses. Then they returned very late in the evening to Kuta.
The second tour to Ubud was a very different tour. It was not to see the scenery but to see the art and the craft of the island. The first stop was at Batubulan, a center of stone sculpture. There my friend watched young boys were carving away at big blocks of stone. The next stop was Celuk, a center for silversmiths and goldensmiths. After that he stopped a little while for lunch at Sukawati and on to mass. Mass is a tourist center
My friend ten-day-stay ended very quickly beside his two tour, all his day was spent on the beach. He went sailing or surfboarding every day. He was quiet satisfied.

Recount Text : The Football Match

Education English | Recount Text : The Football Match | My brother and I went to a football match yesterday. Our school team was playing against another High School team. Our team wore red and white shirts, white shorts, and red stockings. The other team wore orange and black shirts, orange shorts, and black stockings. “They look like bees“, my brother said, and we laughed.

They played like bees too. They ran very fast, attacked very hard, and passed the ball to each other very fast. Soon they scored their fi rst goal. My brother and I shouted and shouted,

“Come on, Valley School! Come on, the Valleys!” Our headmaster was near us and he was shouting too. He seemed very enthusiastic. However, the high school scored another goal. We were very sad.

Then, one of the “bees” stopped the ball with one of his hands, so our team got the free kick. Our captain took it and scored a goal. We shouted, “Hooray!” The score was now 2:1. That was better. Now our team began to play better—or the “bees” were getting tired. Our team scored another goal before half-time. In the second half of the match, both teams tried very hard, but neither scored, so at the end the score was still two all.

Recount Text : Sangiran Museum

Education English | Recount Text : Sangiran Museum | Last monthe my family and I visited Sangiran museum, one of the historical sites in Indoneisa. It is located in the north of Surakarta. We went there by car. On the way to Sangiran Museum we saw many notices showing the sites of fossil discoveries. The visitors could also see the view around the sites from the tower on the top of a hill. A long the road, there are many souvenir shops. They mostly provide unique and antique souvenirs made of stones.

Arriving at the gateway of the Sangiran Museum, we bought entrance tickets and parked the car. Then, we walked to the museum. There are two main buildings which are connected by a small long corridor.

In the first building, we saw many fossils dealing with prehistoric men. There we could learn Darwin's theory of evolution and see the miniaturs of humans evolution  according to Darwin theory. We could also see the equipment used by prehistoric men to live and search food. Besides, we also saw a diorama showing miniatures of prehistoric men and their living. We could take photographs on the miniatures, but we were not allowed to touch them. In that place we felt as if we lived in prehistoric ages. 

After that we went to next building through the corridor. the museum is located in a high area. Therefore we could see the view of the valley below the museum from the corridor. 

Finally we reached the second building. In the building we could see many animals fossils. such as the fossils of a very big elephants tusk, a crocodile's jaw, some other animals skeleton and many more. We could also see a map showing the sites of fossils discoveries.

Narrative Text : Beauty and the Beast

Once upon time there was a prince. He was good looking and very rich. He lived in a beautiful castle together with his staffs  ad servants.

One rainy dark,  a woman came to his castle. She was old and ugly. The prince did not like her and sent her away. After he sent the woman away, she turned into beautiful fairy. She cast a spell over the prince and his castle. The prince became a beast. He was no longer good looking. He looked very ugly instead and all his servants turned into furniture.

One day an old man named Maurice was traveling past the castle. It was raining so hard that he decided to enter the castle. When the beast saw him, he captured him.

After some time, Maurice’s daughter, Belle, began to worry about him.

She started to look for him. Finally she arrived in the castle and she found her father there. She asked the Beast to let her father go but he refused. Belle, then agreed to stay in the castle so that her father could go home.

While Belle was staying at the castle, the beast slowly changed. He was not mean anymore. Belle began to like him and finally they fell in love with each other. Right after she declared her love for him the spell was broken. The beast and his servants became human again. Then the beast and belle got married. They lived happily ever after.

Recount Text : My Wish

Since I was in elementary school, I have hankered for a computer. Whenever my classmates talked about usefulness of computers and how computers helped them in their studies, I felt left out . If  I owned computers, I could use it to do my  school project and  to play my favorite computers games. I could also watch movies on the computer or surf the internet for information.
I tried to make my father see the advantages of owning a computer. Allthough I tried convince him, he objected to buying one. His reason was that once the excitment of owning it was over, the computer would be useless. Moreover he could not afford to buy a computer as his earnings had been reduced as a result of the economic crisis.
When things get better, I will ask him again. Meanwhile I have to be patient and hope that soon my wish will come true.

Recount Text : Trip To Lake Kintamani

Last Sunday my friend and I went to Lake Kintamani in Bali. The water was clean, the temperature was cool and there were trees surrounding the lake.
The next day we visited Tanah Lot. We took pictures of the temple. The scenery was amazing. There was a holy water beside the rocky hill and there was a hole occupied by a big snake which was considered sacred by the local people.
On Tuesday, we went to Sangesh where may wild monkeys walked freely and climbed the trees. In the afternoon we went home.

When I was in hospital last year, I looked forard to visiting times. I was cheered up by visitor who talked and joked with me. My teacher know how boring it was to be alone. She brought me a game set on of her visits.
My classmates gave me fruit and flowers when they visited me. Allan sent me a get well card. He could not visit me because he was also ill. I am lucky to caring friends.

Last week I went to my sister’s school to see her performance in a drama. First I looked for the best seat in the school hall. Then I sat and waited patiently for the drama.

As soon as the drama started, I tried to concentrate on the performance. The drama was good but did not enjoy it. Two children were sitting behind me and they were talking loudly. I got very angry because I could not hear the conversations. So, I turned my head and looked at them angrily. They did not pay any attention and kept on talking. Finally, I turned again and said angrily that I coul not hear a word.

To my surprise they told me that it was none of my business, I thought they did not understand. What I was trying to say was that I coul not hear the drama, not their conversation.

Recount Text : Trip To Ambarawa

Education English | Recount Text : Trip To Ambarawa | I had a 2-day holiday last month. My parents took me to Ambarawa Train Museu. It is located in Ambarawa, Semarang Regency, Central java. It took a two-hour drive from my home. We arrived at the museum at about 11 a.m. It was very crowded. Many people stood in line to buy tickets at the ticket box. I was surprised that an adult ticket costs only Rp3000 and a child tickets Rp2000. Very cheap is it?

The train station was big and clean. We entered the show room. It displayed old tickets registers, stamp pads, old telegraphs and phones, a sign cross, the museum mockup and some other station equipments.

Then, we walked around to see the train collections. Each train collection had its own information board. For example, a train with serial number C 2470 was made in 1901 by Werk Spoor Amsterdam from the Netherlands. This train whose power was 575 horse could run at 60 kilometers per hour. We took some photographs here and there. We did not want to miss oppurtunity.

We then had a lorry tour. It was too crowded that I had to struggle to get some seats for my parents and sister. We had to pay Rp10,000 per person and we did it on board. We passed Rawa Pening. It had beautiful scenery and fresh air. I saw many people and fisherman fishing at the lake. The tour took about half and hour.

We felt a little bit tired, but this holiday was my unforgettable moment. I wanted to go there again someday.

Recount Text: “The Trip to the Blue Mountain “

On Friday, we went to the Blue Mountain. We stayed at David and Della’s house. It has a big garden with lots of colorful flowers and tennis court. On Saturday, we saw the Three Sisters and we went on the scenic railway. It was scary. Then, Mom and I went shopping with Della. We went to some antique shops and I tried on some old hats.
On Sunday, we went on the scenic Skyway and it rocked. We saw cockatoos having shower. In the afternoon, we went home.

Education English | Recount Text : Maya Gazali | Maya Gazali was born in Palu. She grew up in a small village. She began school when she was six years old. She went to elementary school, but she didn’t go to high school. Her family was very poor, and she had to go to work when she was thirteen years old. She worked on an assembly line in a shoe factory. When Maya was seventeen years old, her family moved to West Java. First, they lived in Bogor, and then they moved to Bandung. When Maya arrived in Java, she wasn’t very happy. She missed her friends back in Palu and she didn’t speak like other children. She began to learn to speak like other children, and she practiced with her new friends at the factory in Bandung.

Maya also studied hard. She learned English, and after a few months she got a job as a secretary. Now Maya still studies at night, but now she studies advertising at a business school. She wants to work for an advertising company some day and write commercials. Maya still misses her friends back home, but she communicates with them very often over the Internet. She’s very happy now, and she’s looking forward to an exciting future.

Procedural Recount : Louis Pasteur

Louis Pasteur  was born in Dole on December 27, 1822. He was a French chemist and biologist.

In 1847 he earned a doctorate at the Ecole Normale in Paris, with a focus on both physics and chemistry.

In 1854 he worked on bacteria. He found that the desired production of alcohol in fermentation is indeed due to the presence of additional organism such as bacteria.

Because he aware of the presence of microorganism in nature, in 1864 Pasteur undertook several experiments to find out where these “germs” came from.

In 1865 he found a method to destroy harmful becteria without materially changing the composition flavor or nutritive value of the liquid. The process was named after him, pasteurization.

Pastuer also determined the natural history of anthrax is caused by particular bacillus. He suggested that animals should be given anthrax in a mild from by vaccinating them with weakened bacilli. This vaccine provided immunity from potentially fatal attacks.

Louis Pasteur contributed so much to public sanitation. He founded the science of microbiology, proved the germ theory of disease, invented the process of pasteurization and developed vaccines for several diseases including rabies.

Education English | Recount Text : My Own Adolescene | Last night, I read an article about adolescence in a magazine. I learned that it was a time of change between childhood and adulthood.
After I finished reading the article from the magazine, I remembered my own adolescence. I was fourteen at that time. I felt very emotional about everything. But I tried to learn more about myself. I tried to discover what I wanted to do, and what kind of people I wanted to be. To divert my emotions, I took many extra curricular activities. I took piano lessons on Mondays.
On Tuesdays, I joined an English course. Then on Wednesdays and Thursdays, I had extra science and
math lessons. Fridays, it was my time to play basketball with my friends. Finally, I spent most of my weekends with my family. I was able to control my emotions and to have a place where I could express my creativity in positive ways.

Recount Text : My Twisn Sister

Hi, I.m Jedi. I have a twin sister, named Jada.
We were born on August 5, 1992. We are in the eight grade. Jada and I do everything together. We are in the same class. We dress alike. We look the same. People always get confused . This really makes Jada and I laugh. Teachers and friends always get us mixed up at school. Even our father has trouble telling us apart. Our mother doesn't though. She always knows which twins is which. Jada and I often try to confuse her, but it has never happened.
One day our teacher told our mother to get one of us a different hair cut , so that he could tells us apart. Jada and I were horrified. We want to look different. We liked looking the same.
Our mother came to the rescue, and refused to make us cut our hair. We were happy just the way we were and did not want to change. Our dad just shook his head. He would have to stay  confused. Jada and I did not care.
We knew which one was which, and that was all that mattered.

Recount Text : Athletics

It was bussy summer for athletic competition. The District Sports Competition with 6 other school was a day to remember. Dan Chu competed in the under-16 400 meters. As usual he seemed to go slowly at the start but ran like the wind in the last 60 meters to get second place. Donna Shaikh ran very well to reach fourth place in the Junior 800 meters. Our Junior relay team tried very hard in 4100 meters. Last years, they dropped the baton. This year they beat everyone else but were unable to beat Amner School, whose team was the clear winner. Therese Hudson did well in the High Jump and Ricardo Evans surprised everyone by coming first in the Intermediate Shot Put. Our congratulations to all the competitors. Our head says that it’s taking parts that’s important not winning, but we look forward to even better result next year.

Recount Text : Get Lost

Education English | Recount Text : Get Lost | Samantha was walking home from work one day last month when she saw a man who was trying to break into a car. She asked him what he was doing and he told her to "Get lost" Samantha quickly ran to a nearby shop and asked the owner to call the police, which he did immediately. When she went outside again, she saw that both the thief and the car had gone. 

About ten minutes later , a police car stopped outside the shop. A policewoman got out and asked Samantha some questions about the incident. She asked her to give a description for the car and the thief. Samantha said that the car was a dark blue Ford focus with the registration number TR03 RMN8. She said that it had a large scratch on the right hand side. She described the mas as tall with short dark hair. She said that he was slim, looked about twenty five years old and was wearing a blue denim jacket and black jeans. The policewoman wrote down everything in a notebook. Samantha felt a little shaken, but was glad to be able to help.

A few days later she found that the thief had been caught in Newcastle and that the car had been returned to its owner undamaged.

Recount Text : Francis Greenway

Francis Greenway was a famous convict who was born in England in 1777. His family were builders, stonemasons and architects.

In 1809 Greenway became bankrupt and so he decided to forge a contract. As a result of this crime he was sentenced to transportation to New South Wales for 14 years. This was in 1812. Two years later, in 1814, he arrived in Sydney with a letter of recommendation from ex-governor Hunter. In response to this recommendation, a ticket-of-leave was granted to him and this enabled him to establish his own business as an architect.

In March 1816 Greenway was appointed to the position of civil Architect and Assistant Engineer by Governor Macquarie. For his work he received a salary of 3 shillings (30c) per day. For six years Greenway designed and supervised the construction of many buildings which have since become part of Australia's colonial heritage. These include St. Matthew's Church, Windsor; St Luke's Church, Liverpool; St. James' Church, Sydney; parts of Old Government House, Parramatta; Government House Stables (now the Conservatorium of Music), Sydney; the Old Hospital, Liverpool; and Hyde Park Barracks (in Macquarie Street, Sydney). The friendship between Macquarie and Greenway, however, did not last - one of the reasons was connected to Greenway's salary.

After Macquarie had been sent back to England, Greenway received only limited work from the new Governor, Brisbane. His temper did not help him to win friends or work. Before long, Greenway's health began to fail and he fell into poverty. After his wife's death he was tricked out of his property and, in 1837, at the age of sixty he died so poor that his grave did not have a headstone.

Greenway has been described as stubborn, arrogant, temperamental and egotistical. Some even argue that his designs are mere copies and too extravagant. However, Greenway was also a man of great ability, imagination and energy, and he is remembered by many people as Australia's first architect. Most of his buildings are now part of Australia's valued colonial heritage.

Biographical Recount: “Thomas Alva Edison”

Thomas alva Edison was one of the greatest inventors of all time. He lived from 1847 until 1931.

He was born in Milan, Ohio, in 1847. In 1854 his family moved to Port Huron, Michigan. When he was 12 he got very sick. As a result he became partially deaf. He attended school for only three months there. So, his mother taught him reading, writing and arithmetic.

In 1862, Edison saved a boy from being run over by a train. The boy’s father operated a telegraph machine. As thanks, the father taught Edison how to operate the telegraph. Later, Edison made improvement to the telegraph.

In 1876, Edison started the first the first industrial research laboratory at Menlo Park, New Jersey. One of his inventions is the long - lasting light bulb.

Thomas Alva Edison died in 1931. When he died all electric current in the country was turned off.

Although he did not have enough formal education and was deaf, he became a famous inventor. Once he said , “ Genius is one ercent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration.
