English Grammar : Verb Pattern

Learn Grammar  | English Grammar : Verb Pattern | Understanding Elements of Predicate
A group of words which have been prepared in accordance with the rules of English grammar may be called a sentence, when the group says it has a subject and predicate. It would be perfect if the group says it has an object. Thus the necessary conditions for a sentence must have a subject and predicate, and it would be perfect if the added object.
Predicate in a sentence is not merely the form of the verb, but may include other words. That can be either be or aux (auxiliary words) are added to the noun, adjective or adverb. Predicate Verb:

From the table we know that the predicate be shaped or auxiliary.
Infinitive with to (with to and the infinitive without to (without to)
Sometimes we become confused when a sentence contained more than one verb. Because if the second verb to use "to" or not. Next let us learn these things.

1. If in one sentence there are two verbs, we add to to the second verb. Thus we use the to infinitive.
example :
a. He decided to write a letter
b. They supposed me to do the work better
c. She refused to go with me
d. I invited the woman to go to the movie that night.

2. However, for the following verbs are not followed to, for the second verb. The verbs are:
let, help, make, have + verb-1 (without to )
example :
a. They let me take the books yesterday
b. Niken helped her mother cook in the kitchen
c. He made his sister post the letter
d. The teacher had the students study hard

3. Likewise, for the words following, namely the verb associated with the senses. We do not add to to the second verb.
smell, hear, taste, observe, notice, watch, listen + verb-1 (without to)
example :
a. Please, see me play the piano
b. Yesterday, I did'nt see him leave the house
c. Please, listen to me read this poem

Please note that the verb associated with the senses mentioned above often also followed by the-ing verb form that states it is happening (in progress). -Ing verb forms are grouped as a present participle.
example :
I saw him disturbing the girl when I went home
When I passed near the house, I heard a baby crying
They watched the children playing in the yard
I smelled something burning when I entered the room
I often listen to him playing the piano.
