English Grammar : Imperatives

Education English | English Grammar : Imperatives | Imperatives are used to give orders, make suggestions and encourage people to do things.
Pattern : Vbase + O
examples :
  1. make your bed
  2. stop crying,please.
Notes :  
  • The imperative does not usually have a subject , but it can be used with one ( a noun or pronoun) if it is necessary to make it clear who is being spoken to.
examples :
  1. Rani, feed the cat
  2. Somebody, clean the blackboard.
  • Negative imperatives are constructed with 'do not' (or "don't)
examples :
  1. Don't be afraid
  2. Don't come late.
