These man were in a desert. They were surrounded by sand which spread out as far as they could see in every direction. They were all carrying heavy loa, the sun is beat down on them, and the heat was terrible. The man in the white hat is Mr.Grey. he was their leader. The man who was squatting on the ground was their guide. He told them that he knew this place well, but he did not. He had mislead them, and they were all lost.
It was nearly dark, but the explorers still continued their exploration because they needed to find water, but now they went the westward, towards the sunset. Mr.Grey gave them order. He went the opposite way and he were ordering the man who got them into his trouble to follow him.
It was very dark now and the man have stopped. They are going to camp here. And the next morning the men were very near the top of big cliff. They were in a lot of danger last night, because they nearly walked over the edge in the dark. Now they were looking at their path. They found beautiful scenery on all sides. There was a waterfall down to a river, with many big stones on the side of the river.
Beside the river, there was also big cave which was covered by various plants in front of it. The men could see hat there has been a flood there recently, because the river was very full. They cannot go any further, so they turned left and followed the river toward the southern part of the country.
