Talking About Future

There are different ways to talk about the future :
  • For intension (what intended to do in the future)
          ex ; I am going to spend holiday in Bali

          The form used : to be going to
  • For planning an activity for the near future
          ex: I am playing tennis tomorrow afternoon

         the form used : present continous
  • For something in which the speaker sees or feels evidence now for the future events.
            Ex : Look at those black clouds! It’s going to rain
            The form used : to be going to
  • For action which the speaker decides to do at the moment of speaking
          ex : Have you closed the door ? Oh no. I forgot. I’ll do it now

           the form used: shall or will
  • When talking about time tables programme, etc.
          ex : the train leaves Yogya at 5 p.m and arrives in Jakarta at 4 a.m

          the form used : simple present
  • When predicting a future situation
          ex : when you get the airport, you’ll see a lot of taxis in front of the gate.

        The form used : will be + verb-ing/ will
