Report Text : My Village

I live in a small village named Sungai Gerong. It is 30 kilometers from Palembang City. Most of people in my village work as employees in a government oil company. Although the village is far from the city, it has all the facilities needed such as ; post offices, banks, supermarkets, schools, mosque, churches, police stations, bus stations, hospitals, and hotels. People in my village don’t come to the post every often. They usually come there when there is a big day, for example ; Lebaran or Christmas, to send greeting cards to their friends or relatives.

The bank in my village is not as big as the bank city. It is only a branch of a government bank. People must come to that bank if they want withdraw money because there is no automatcic teller machine in our village. Although we live in a small village, we can buy our daily needs without any problems because our village supermarket has everything we need.

There are four school levels in my village ; kindergarten, elementary, junior and senior high school. The school buildings are not far from each other. They are located in the same area. This condition makes the parents not spending too much time when they take or pick up their children to or from school.

Mooslem people in my village pray together in a big mosuque near the school. Meanwhile, the Christians pray in church in front of the bank.

To keep condition of our village secure, there is a police station near the village entrance. People who want to visit the village must get out from their vehicle and ask for permission. The police who guard the station always take their identification card and give it back after they leave our village. Besides all facilities mentioned above, my village also has some sport facilities. People use it to make use of their leisure time. They play football, volleyball, or basketball there. These sport facilities also become a good medium to strengthen people’s togetherness in our village.
