Geneva (AP) ; Indonesia has recorded another human case of the H5N1 strain of bird flu, raising its world leading total to 117 cases, according to the World Health Organization.
The agency said Friday night that Indonesian Health Ministry had reported that a 16 years old girl from West Java Procvince has been hospitalized since January, 4 with symptoms of the disease.It said the strain had been confirmed as H5N1.
Of the total number of human cases in Indonesia, 94 have been fatal. WHO says that globally 349 people have been infected with H5N1 since 2003 outbreak of the disease. Of those, 216 have died.
After Indonesia the country with the next highest number of the cases is Vietnam with 101 followed by Egypt with 43, according to UN health agency.

Jakarta : Two women, both foreign nationals, were robbed Saturday night in a taxi they hailed in Kemang.
At around 9 p.m the two women entered taxi on Jl.Kemang Raya in South Jakarta. After driving for several minutes on the same road, the driver slowed the taxi and two men jumped into the backseat of the vehicle, entering from the both sides.
Without saying a word, the welt built and neatly dressed men struck the young women as the driver speed away. The women shouted for help, but none of the other drivers or predestrians on the busy streets came to their aid.
One of the women said several people on the street saw what was happening but chose not to help.
“I thought it was safe to use the taxi, especially since I took it from the crowded Jl.Kemang on a Saturday night” she told the Jakarta Post.
One of the women was driven around and robbed of all her belongings, including her passports a cellular phon, cash and jewelry, before being left on Jl. Sudirman in Central Jakarta.
Another taxi stopped and the driver took the woman to the nearest police station where officers took her statement before taking her back to Jl. Kemang and then checking on her friend, who had been taken to Global Doctor Medical centre.
Media reports revealed there were 13 cases of robberies tergetting taxi passengers in 2007, while there have already been six reported cases this year. Most of the victims are women.

He only told me to stop if I was too tired. How am I supposed to feed my family if I don’t sing and dance?” said the singer whose dancing was once the source of a major controversy here. Inul said she wouldn’t be changing her typically-tight stage outfi ts like many other actresses and female singers who start wearing headscarves after coming back from the haj.

Education English | News Items Text : Preparing the Children Today for Tomorrow | Parents strive to have their children aca demically competitive. Their goal is to send their children to good schools as well as to choose extracurricular activities that improve their children's skills and abilities.
Children learn what is important through their school year. The question then becomes what should parents consider in choosing the best education for their children? When should the process begin?
The answer is, from the time of birth, how ever, the schools become part of the process, when children begin preschools and kinder garten. This is when parents pick a school that parallel their educational beliefs. A joint effort between parents, students, and the schools is established. Success will be based on how well the "team" works. Parents need to look for a school that will be a "second home" for their children.
These are some important factors that should be considered. It is very important that students have good reading comprehension, writing and speaking skills. In today's world, students who develop skill in two or more languages will find further studies easier. English is considered the business language of today and is important for students who plan to attend university in English speaking countries. Mandarin is becoming more important as China begins to move into world economy. French and German are necessary for many students are now looking at oppor tunities in
Europe. Students who develop more than one language have an advantage over competitors applying for college place ment. However one cannot develop a second language unless one develops his or her first language.
Studies show that children between the ages of two and six best acquire a second language parallel to their own. Therefore, starting students in school offering dual language instruction programmes have an advantage. If a dual language programmes isn't available, or is too expensive, parents may need to look at different ways to get the needed language instruction.
Language acquisition needs to be active. A good school will begin with oral language at the earliest opportunity to develop speaking confidence and to set grammatical structures. When a child learn two languages in parallel, vocabulary and grammatical structures are easier to acquire. The earlier a second language is learned, the less problem a child will have with improper word use. The more active in each language students become the more proficient and confident they will be.

Yorba Linda area bomame the senter of the temblor. The earthquake occurred at 8:17 p.m. The quake was felt over by people in a wide area of Orange counties and Los Angeles.The earthquake was centered about two miles north of Yorba Linda and about 28 miles southeast of downtown Los Angeles.
The main earthquake was 4.1 magnitude and followed by, a 2.4 magnitude quake after few minutes after the main quake. In that time thousands of people, celebrities, media and other invited guests, were being gathered at Disney's California Adventure for an event celebrating the final piece of a $1.1-billion expansion of the Anaheim park. The Orange County Sheriff's Department said that there were no immediate reports of damage.

The magistrates court heard that Shafiq, 31, began striking Winarti,22 about a month after she started working for him.
He hit her on the head with the TV set’s remote control because he was unhappy with her work. On one occasion, he punched her on the back after accusing her of day dreaming.
S.S Dhillon, Shafiq’s lawyer said his client lost his better sense when he saw his daughter’s face covered as she lay in bed.
He said his client thought the maid had put the child in danger.

The developmental of internet led to experts to create many kinds of activities such as teleconference, an activity in which people can have a conversation while seeing each other through a display although separated by thousands of kilometres, playing an interactive game with other people who do not live in the same house, or watching sports that are not broadcast on TV.
All sport information is available on the internet. If you like sports, you can find the latest result, but you can also enjoy the highlight of the match. For students the internet is very useful to help them to get the references they need in order to do their assignments. Teachers also feel grateful for the invention of the internet because they can have more knowledge by exploring it.
There are also many negative effects caused by its development such as kids can see pornographic features by exploring its sites, spending much time doing useless chatting with others or playing interactive games while forgetting more important activities. Those activities are bad influence since they lead people to destroy their moral values.

Education English | News Items Text : Tornado Wreaks Havoc in Semarang | Residents assessed the damage after a tornado damaged 150 houses in the district of Tembalang in Semarang, Central Java late on Saturday afternoon. Three people were injured and at least five of the houses in the Sendangguwo and Tandang neighbourhoods were destroyed, while many others were seriously damaged as the tornado ripped off their roofs.
Tohirin aka Jayeng, 40, a resident whose house was travelled at the Sendang Asri housing complex, said the winds hit about 4 p.m.
"I saw this black wind coming and becoming pointed into a funnel. It suddenly approached and hit my house," he said.
Tohirin's wife, two children and mother-in law were in the kitchen at the time when the tornado known locally as "Ulur-ulur" passed over their home, destroying the guest and bedrooms.
"It was as if the wind had lifted my home up," Tohirin said.
The disaster also destroyed the walls of four neighbouring houses. Many other homes in the area lost their roofs and residents and neighbours had started rebuilding on Sunday.
Tembalang district head Dayat said the tornado also damaged a small mosque and felled power lines and about 50 trees. His office was still collecting data on the damage, he said.
Villagers said the tornado was the worst to hit the district in living memory. Semarang Mayor Sukawi Sutarip and his wife, Sinto Sukawi, visited the scene on Sunday, accom panied by senior officials.
"We will provide the victims with assistance immediately," the mayoral spokesman Achyani said.

"The government only approves a Freeport ore output this year of 220,000 tons a day to reduce the impact on the environment," Witoro S. Soelarno, head of mine inspection at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry, said. The previous limit was 300,000 tons a day, he said.
Phoenix-based Freeport produced on average 229,000 tons of copper and gold ore a day from its Grasberg mine in 2006.
Freeport's copper ore output in the fourth quarter of 2007 fell to 926 million of recoverable pounds from 1,044 million of recoverable pounds a year earlier, the company said on its
Web site. Gold output in the quarter dropped to 186,000 of recoverable ounces from 544,000 of recoverable ounces, it said. — Bloomberg

Education English | News Item Text : Lohan’s Sentence to Visit Morgue | BEVERLY HILLS, California: Lindsay Lohan is about to see dead people. In June, the 21-year-old actress will visit the morgue as part of her punishment for misdemeanour drunken driving.
“She’s going to see bodies. We’ll have anywhere from 20 to 50 people in the class and she’s treated like any other individual,” Los Angeles County Coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Friday. Lohan was arrested twice last year on DUI charges and pleaded guilty in August to misdemeanour drunken driving and cocaine charges.
“The morgue visits include a walk-through of the service floor where autopsies are taking place along with the processing of the deceased. They also wind up seeing deceased people in our crypt,” Winter said.
“It’s to show them what reality is.”
